Whether children are read to aloud, or whether they pursue books on their own, everyone benefits by reading as a family. That’s the idea behind the Jan. 23 family reading night scheduled at Lower Pottsgrove and West Pottsgrove elementary schools.

Was it a big crowd? You bet: a gymnasium packed with family members (most of them taking cell phone photos and videos), teachers, and school officials. Were the kids nervous? Sure. And did those Lower Pottsgrove musicians perform well? “Bravo!,” their conductor said as they ended.
