Award-winning writer, editor, and photographer Joseph M. “Joe” Zlomek lives in and operates from Sanatoga PA.

Zlomek has a life-long background in print and electronic journalism.
Having begun his professional writing career at age 16, he has been a newspaper reporter, editor, and publisher; and a freelance writer and photographer. Zlomek’s work has been published in major magazines and trade periodicals in the U.S. and internationally, and on the web. He specializes in writing about local news and events, real estate issues, technology-based industries, business marketing, and travel.
Zlomek spent 12 years in newspaper management with privately owned Ingersoll Publishing Co. and its successors, Goodson Newspaper Group and the Journal Register Company (now known as Digital First Media). During his Ingersoll-Goodson-JRC tenure, Zlomek was publisher, chief operating officer (COO) and editor of The Mercury, Pottstown, PA (1989-1991); publisher and COO of The Observer, Toms River, NJ (1989); publisher, COO and executive editor of The Tribune-Star, Terre Haute, IN (1984-1989); general manager and designer of the Herald-News and Sunday Herald-News, Fall River, MA (1983-1984); and publisher, COO and editor of the Daily Dispatch, Oneida, NY (1979-1983).
It was during Zlomek’s tenure at The Mercury that the newspaper, and former Editorial Writer Thomas Hylton, won the 1990 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Writing.
Before his management career, Zlomek served in various capacities with daily and weekly newspapers in central New York as reporter, photographer and/or editor. He is a 1977 graduate of Syracuse University (under what was then its Utica College division) with a BA in Journalism and a minor in public relations.
Zlomek has been a member of more than 20 years in the national Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ). He is listed in the SPJ Freelancer Directory. He has won several local and regional journalism awards in Pennsylvania and New York.
Marketing and Public Relations
Zlomek owned and operated a marketing and public relations business, The Pottstown Wordworks, from 1991-2002. Since 2003, he has owned Career Education Media Ventures. A separate company, The Post Publications, was formed in July 2012 to operate several online community news services that provide written and multimedia news content to readers and subscribing publishers.
In 2001 Zlomek joined Polley Associates, Pennsylvania’s largest proprietary school for professionals in real estate and related careers, and continues there as its marketing director. He is a real estate instructor licensed by the Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission, and is the author of several part-day, full-day, and multi-day real estate courses that have received commission approval.
An accomplished photographer and videographer, Zlomek’s images have received international recognition.

As of January 2017, Internet users at FreeImages had downloaded Zlomek’s stock photos more than 203,000 times. He was the winner of the 1981 International Award for news photography presented by the International Association of Firefighters AFL-CIO-CLO.
