Snowfall Set The Scene During Wentz Tour

PRETTY AND WHITE FOR THE HOLIDAYS – Visitors during Saturday’s (Dec. 5, 2009) Candlelight Tour at Peter Wentz Farmstead, the Montgomery County historic site in Worcester PA, had the realism of their Christmas trip back in time enhanced by the first snowfall of the winter. Although it made driving to the restored 18th Century Pennsylvania Dutch farm tricky from Sanatoga and Limerick, it also helped the candles along a walking path to the site gleam and glisten. See more photos below, and in a gallery here.

Temperatures dropped enough so that Colonial soldiers, standing guard outside the farmhouse in a Valley Forge-like encampment, gathered around an open fire for warmth. The cold also sent a young lamb scurrying for the warm and stomach-filling comfort of its mother’s milk.

And as the snow accumulated atop the leaves and berries of a nearby holly tree, Wentz Farmstead volunteer Rich Poole kept watch outside the farm fence and greeted guests as they entered the gates.
