Gilbertsville Home Owner Adds Flash To Christmas

Adam Canigiani.

GILBERTSVILLE PA – It’s not your average light display, according to internet television station WZAR-TV in Boyertown.

A Gilbertsville family has taken the spirit of Christmas to a whole new level. The display consists of thousands of lights, tons of wiring, and is even software-controlled to the rhythm of music. It’s anything but an “out-of-the-box” system, and has all been custom designed and built by village resident and home owner Adam Canigiani, WZAR News reported Sunday (Dec. 26, 2010).

Aw, C’mon … The Holiday’s Not Even Over Yet!

Out with the old.

SANATOGA PA – “O, Christmas tree; O Christmas tree! What’ll we do with thee, O’ Christmas tree?”

OK, so maybe that’s not a favorite holiday tune of yours. But if, like those substituted lyrics, you’re wondering what to do with your tree once the holidays are over, Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township offers a solution. January is tree collection month in the township.

Discarded trees will be collected on Mondays only between Jan. 3 and Jan. 31. The township asks that trees to be picked up be placed at curbside by Sunday night for collection next morning.

Chip Skips, Steps His Way Through Holiday Part-Hey

POTTSTOWN PA – Who says mascots never have any Christmas fun?

Chip, and a friend.

Chip, the sparkling, diamond-headed mascot of Diamond Credit Union, headquartered on Medical Drive in Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township, was the break-dancing spectacle of the credit union’s recent Christmas party. Chip waltzed into a conference room filled with employees and food, and – accompanied by Santa Claus himself – proceeded to bust a move to a holiday record by the rap group Run DNC.

The file was uploaded Monday (Dec. 20, 2010). Radical, dudes.

From Afghanistan, A Township Resident Sends His Best

Robert Lindgren.

HERAT, AFGHANISTAN – Former Pottsgrove School Board member Robert “Bob” Lindgren may be thousands of miles distant from his Lower Pottsgrove Township family this Christmas, but he’s now also just a click away.

Lindgren, a Pine Hurst Drive, Pottstown PA, resident and U.S. Navy Reserve commander stationed in Herat, Afghanistan, is one of 7,079 Pennsylvanians who have had their videotaped holiday greetings for family and friends sent to the media by the Defense Video and Imagery Distribution System (DVIDS) during the past two months.

Two such greetings, from area servicemen and women stationed in Germany and Alaska, respectively, were put online by The Post Publications this week. Lindgren’s however, apparently was lost in paperwork exchanged between DVIDS and the Joint Hometown News Service, with which The Posts work.

Lost, that is, until the service’s Broadcast Chief Natasha Schleper notified Post Managing Editor Joe Zlomek by Monday afternoon (Dec. 20, 2010) e-mail that dozens more “last-minute” holiday videos could be downloaded immediately. Lindgren’s was among them, and now is ready for viewing.

DVIDS records indicate Lindgren’s greeting was taped Nov. 15 at 3:53 p.m. as he stood outside the regional command headquarters where he works in Afghanistan. He offered his love and best wishes to his wife and children by name, and said he’s looking forward to seeing them all soon.

Lindgren resigned from the Board of School Directors of the Pottsgrove School District earlier this year so the board could complete district business with a successor. That turned out to be Director Patti Grimm. He also left the chairmanship of the township Sewer Authority, although his name and title still appear on the authority’s page at the township website.

20101220-JamesJagodzinski-MilitaryGreetings

Troop Greetings For Birdsboro PA

Lt. Col. Jagodzinski and his family.

BIRDSBORO PA – U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. James J. Jagodzinski and his family, stationed in Vilseck, Germany, offer holiday greetings to his father, James Jagodzinski of Birdsboro PA, in this video produced by the Joint Hometown News Service (JHNS) and released for distribution this month (December 2010).

Editor’s Note: For a second consecutive year, The Post is proud to have been selected by the San Antonio TX-based JHNS to carry video holiday greetings from U.S. Armed Forces troops to their family members who live within 25 miles of Pottstown PA. None of the greetings made available this year were from servicemen or women with ties to Lower Pottsgrove or Limerick (PA) townships, or the Borough of Pottstown. We know, however, that residents of our coverage areas join families across the nation in thanking our troops for their service, and wishing them and their families the happiest of holidays.
