If and when a Hurricane Sandy disaster assistance package is passed by Congress, Lower Pottsgrove Township is already prepared to claim a small portion of reimbursement for damage caused by the storm.

About 250 of 9,000 voting booth locations across the state still lack electrical power knocked out by the storm, The Pennsylvania Independent reports. Utilities are predicting they’ll all be up-and-running by Monday.

Retirement monies on which Pottsgrove, Pottstown and Spring-Ford Area school employees depend were invested in part in a hedge fund that bet against a storm like Hurricane Sandy. A PSERS spokesperson said the fund doubted it lost money, but could not yet be sure.
