During 2011, Lower Pottsgrove expects to pay more than $836,000 for waste hauling services. Property owners pay about half of that directly in collection fees. The rest is subsidized by the township budget, which is due for approval next month.

The food you put on your table costs, on average, $25 a bag. The garbage one Lower Pottsgrove resident clears from his table and elsewhere, he estimates, costs $4 a bag. Something’s wrong with that, he says.
