THE BIG GAME DESERVES A BIG SANDWICH – Saturday (Feb. 5, 2011) was Super Bowl Hoagie Day at the Pottsgrove High School cafeteria, Kauffman Road, Pottstown PA. The high school Parent-Teacher Organization sold its Italian meats and ham sandwiches during the preceding week, then scheduled them to be picked up the day before the Steelers faced the Packers in Texas during football’s biggest showdown of the year. Proceeds from the sale benefited the PTO Coordinating Council Scholarship Fund. Darlene Robinson, above, was among the volunteers who helped usher hags filled with hoagies out the door with happy buyers. Tim Hoffman, below, was among those who were ready to enjoy all that good eatin’.

Italian or ham hoagie sandwiches will be sold Oct. 18, officially dubbed “Pottsgrove Family Hoagie Day,” by the Pottsgrove School District’s combined Parent-Teacher Organization as a fund-raiser to benefit its scholarship fund. The fund annually presents four Pottsgrove High School seniors with scholarship awards.

Hot stuff.
Students are not being asked to sell hoagies door-to-door in their neighborhoods. Instead, interested diners should ask Pottsgrove students they know to purchase hoagies in advance on their behalf.
You want peppers with that? Sandwiches cost $3.50 each for either variety, or $3.75 with peppers. Hoagie orders, which are tax-deductible, should be submitted by no later than Oct. 8 and must be pre-paid. Checks should be made payable to the Pottsgrove PTO, and submitted when orders are placed.
Hoagie orders must be picked up Oct. 18 from 10-11 a.m. from the cafeteria at Pottsgrove High School, 1301 Kauffman Rd., Pottstown PA. Orders not picked up by the deadline will be donated to a needy community organization.
