Having settled its lawsuit for money to fix the Rupert Road bridge, Lower Pottsgrove is again involved in a legal dispute with the same residential developer over funds to pave the road itself.

Commissioners accepted an originally agreed-upon sum of $375,000, but no more, to be used for repairs to the aging, crumbling, but still heavily traveled Rupert Road bridge. The amount covers only half the cost of refurbishing the span.

The sidewalls of the Rupert Road bridge across Hartenstine creek on Lower Pottsgrove’s east side are cracked and splintering. Its reinforcing bars are showing in places, its concrete is crumbling, and it still bears a heavy traffic load. Money to fix all of those problems might soon be available.

Money Lower Pottsgrove claims it was promised by a developer to fix problems with the Rupert Road bridge is waiting, according to its solicitor, at a Delaware bank.
