Over the past year, according to a new report, average single-family home sale prices stagnated or declined slightly in the Pottsgrove and Pottstown school districts, but rocketed up 32 percent or more in the Spring-Ford Area district.

The Pennsylvania Legislature’s failure so far to change charter school funding may cost taxpayers in the Pottsgrove, Pottstown, Spring-Ford Area and other school districts statewide up to $500 million during the next four years.

Pottsgrove schools will open Wednesday, but on a two-hour delay. Pottstown schools remain closed. Spring-For schools open on a regular schedule.

All Spring-Ford Area School District schools, as well as Pope John Paul II High School in Royersford, will close Monday. No decision on Tuesday has been made for either.

The state House and Senate returned to business Monday after their summer vacations. Topping the list of laws they have yet to handle, but which are eagerly awaited in the Pottsgrove, Spring-Ford Area, and Pottstown school districts, are those dealing with charter school reform.

The two area school districts are part of a 13-member group that collectively buy their electricity through the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit in Norristown. Their combined nine-month savings this year is $678,000.
