Pottsgrove Students Compete For Arts Scholarship

POTTSTOWN PA – The second annual Greater Pottstown Foundation Senior High School Arts Scholarship Exhibit, which presents works in watercolor or pastel pencil, charcoal or ink, and oil or acrylic by seniors from Pottsgrove, Pottstown, and Owen J. Roberts high schools, opens today (Saturday, May 21, 2011) at The Gallery On High, 254 High St., Pottstown PA, and runs through June 11.

The exhibitors are competing for a $10,000 Scholarship for the Arts for four years of college education, funded by the foundation. The prize will be awarded to one of the several artists, based on merit as measured by artistic performance in the exhibit, as well as by a scholarship essay.

The scholarship will be presented during a June 4 ceremony at the gallery.

The Gallery School of Pottstown is a non-profit community art school and gallery that offers day, evening and weekend classes to all ages. It hosts rotating shows featuring local artists, and also sells handcrafted gift items. The gallery is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Breakfast At Tiffany’s Theme For Gallery Event

POTTSTOWN PA – Fashion Plates 5, the fifth annual fashion show fund-raiser that benefits programs of The Gallery School of Pottstown, is scheduled for April 10 (2011; Sunday) from 1-4 p.m. at Brookside Country Club, Prospect and Adams streets, Pottstown PA, and will feature a “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” theme.

The afternoon of food, fashions, and a popular silent auction will include a musical atmosphere created by Magical Sight and Sound, present fashions from Boscov’s Department Stores, and a dance demonstration provided by the Remi from High Street Ballroom.

The event offers appetizers, lunch, dessert, the fashion show, and an endless supply of Tiffany Punch, this year’s signature drink.

Tickets are available for $60 for adults, and $30 for children age 12 and younger. Tickets can be purchased online, here, or by calling 610-326-2506.

The Gallery School, located in The Gallery On High, 254 High St., Pottstown, is a non-profit community art center with a mission to provide a solid educational foundation to youth and adults alike. It intends to help students foster their creativity and develop their talents both for personal enrichment and as a foundation for advanced studies in the arts.

POTTSTOWN PA – Fashion Plates 5, the fifth annual fashion show fund-raiser that benefits programs of The Gallery School of Pottstown, is scheduled for April 10 (2011; Sunday) from 1-4 p.m. at Brookside Country Club, Prospect and Adams streets, Pottstown PA, and will feature a “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” theme.

Tickets are available at a $10 discount, for $50 each, if purchased before March 10; the price is $60 thereafter for adults, and $30 for children age 12 and younger.
