Montgomery County Band Schedules Spring Concert

SOUDERTON PA – The Montgomery County Concert Band, whose performing members come from all walks of live and all parts of the county, will usher in its spring season with an annual concert May 1 (2011; Sunday) at 3 p.m. in the auditorium of Souderton High School, 625 Lower Rd., Souderton PA. A variety of standard and contemporary music for band, a special soloist, and even a special video game composition are on the program.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Some of the Montgomery County's finest musicians will be heard during the free concert

Director and band co-founder Stephen Frederick will share conducting honors with assistant director Chuck Neidhardt. Both are retired music educators and school administrators.

The band has been entertaining audiences across southeastern Pennsylvania since 1995. Its members come from a wide variety of occupations: they are homemakers, system analysts, secretaries, educators, lawyers, truck drivers, chemists, business owners, doctors, consultants, and even a prison chaplain.

Frederick said he’s pleased with the commitment and level of performance generated by the members since the beginning. “We are very fortunate to have had local and nationally recognized musicians perform with the band. This spring is no exception. Trumpeter Matt Gallagher will be the featured soloist. He is recognized and respected as one of the best in this tri-state region. We are honored to have him share his talent with our audience.”

“Presenting a formal concert in the fall and spring provides an opportunity (for) some musical literature that we don’t get a chance to program during the summer,” Neidhardt noted. The band is often scheduled for area events during the summer.
