Today At Tri-PAC, Free Fun And A Musical Performance

POTTSTOWN PA – Two events specifically planned for elementary school-aged children, and one of them free, are scheduled today (Saturday, April 30, 2011) at 1 and 3 p.m., respectively, in the Tri-County Performing Arts Center, 245 High Street, Pottstown PA.

At 1, kids will have the chance take a “Trip to Never-Never Land,” a free event with crafts, refreshments, storytellers, and other festivities that serve as advance promotion for Tri-PAC’s June (2011) staging of “Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure.” Perhaps even Peter or pirates will appear, Tri-PAC spokeswoman Betsy Chapman hinted. Donations will be accepted, but are not required.

Then, at 3, Tri-PAC presents “The Nightingale,” a humorous adaptation of the classic fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. The play encourages the audience to join forces with ancient Oriental gods and the Nightingale to help the great Emperor of China appreciate the real treasures of life, rather than his worldly possessions.

Tickets for the Nightengale performance cost $11-$17, with special group discounts available, and can be purchased online, by calling 610-970-1199, or at the door (if available).

The Tri-PAC is performing the U.S. premiere of the new version of Peter Pan during several performances scheduled for June 2-19. This musical for all ages tells the timeless tale of the boy who never grew up. Of course, Peter will be joined by Tinker Bell, Wendy, The Lost Boys, Captain Hook and his band of pirates, and many other colorful characters.
