Sanatoga Job Fair Wednesday Gets Better: 60 Employers

SANATOGA PA – What was already expected to be a big employment event next week has become even bigger.

A career fair scheduled to be held by the TriCounty Community Network (TCN) on Wednesday (May 18, 2011) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Sunnybrook Ballroom, 50 Sunnybrook Rd., Pottstown PA, initially anticipated attracting about 50 employers. Now the number has climbed to 60, TCN Executive Director Jen Doyle reported Thursday (May 12), and even more could sign on before the event opens.

In fact, employers, here’s your chance to find good, local help: to be part of the action, call Don Stewart at 610-326-2705. Of course, a greater number of job providers present a greater number of potential opportunities available to applicants, and in this troubling economy that’s the whole idea, Doyle says.

The event is the latest project to result from the network’s partnership in a workforce development program with Exelon Nuclear, Montgomery County Community College, and the TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Pottstown-based network, of which The Post is a member, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving health, social and environmental conditions in western Montgomery, northern Chester and eastern Berks counties.

There’s still time, according to TCN, for people who want help preparing for their employment interviews to get it. The network has job prep workshops scheduled for:

  • Today (Friday, May 13) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the YWCA Tri-County Area, 315 E. King St., Pottstown; and
  • Again at the YWCA on Tuesday (May 17) from 4-6 p.m.

Those interested in attending a workshop should call TCN at 610-705-3301.

Career fair sponsors include Exelon, Sunnybrook Foundation, the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the Montgomery County Workforce Investment Board, and The (Pottstown) Mercury newspaper.
