Pottstown Teacher Allen Among ‘Inspiration’ Winners
POTTSTOWN PA – Pottstown School District teacher Stephen Allen has been recognized as one of 23 finalists and grand prize winners in the 2011 “Voices of Inspiration” competition, co-sponsored by the Montgomery County (PA) Intermediate Unit and Freedom Credit Union to honor teaching excellence, the credit union announced earlier this month (May 6, 2011).
Winners for the annual contest, which began in 2007, were chosen from among 975 nominees. Teachers selected from each of the county’s 21 school districts, in addition to one from the Intermediate Unit itself and another from a private school, were presented awards during a ceremony held at Blue Bell Country Club, Blue Bell PA.
The credit union “is proud to recognize this well-deserving group of educators as true voices of inspiration,” said Lee MacMinn, Freedom’s president. “We are happy that Voices of Inspiration has received such a warm response and great participation” from county school districts, he added.
Allen and 19 others received a $500 award; three grand prize winners (one each from a high school, middle school, and elementary school) received an additional $1,500.
The credit union operates branch offices in Abington, Lansdale, Philadelphia, and Warminster. The Intermediate Unit is a regional educational service agency that provides services for its member school districts and schools.
