Celebrate National Trails Day; Get Your Free Map

POTTSTOWN PA – An updated, full-color 2011 brochure of the Schuylkill River Trail, which includes a map of the entire trail and information on amenities in key towns along the trail route, will be distributed free beginning Saturday (June 4, 2011) from 9 a.m. to noon by the Schuylkill River National and State Heritage Area at the Pottstown Riverfront Park Trail Head, 140 College Dr., Pottstown PA, and four other locations.

The brochures, produced by the Heritage Area, are being given away to mark Saturday at National Trails Day, according to its staff writer, Laura Catalano.

Maps also will be distributed at the

  • Schuylkill Banks Information Center (along the trail, below Market Street), Philadelphia;
  • Betzwood Trail Head in Valley Forge National Historical Park, King of Prussia;
  • Brentwood Trail Head, Reading; and
  • Kernsville Dam Trail Head, Hamburg (from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.).

Trail maps will also be available at the Heritage Area offices, 140 College Dr., Pottstown, beginning June 6. Other free map locations will be listed on the Heritage Area’s website.
