Pottstown Student In Summer Sessions At Bucknell
POTTSTOWN PA – A Pottstown PA resident, Bethany Grandy, is among nine Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) students who this summer will attend Bucknell University as a participant in the Bucknell Community College Scholars Program, MCCC reported Tuesday (June 14, 2011).
Grandy and her colleagues will be enrolled over six weeks in two courses, and work with student and faculty mentors, all at no cost. The scholars program enables high-achieving, low-income community college students to complete their undergraduate education at the university. It covers tuition, room and board, and books.
The summer sessions will be followed by an opportunity to apply to Bucknell in 2011; if accepted, the students will transfer with junior status on full scholarships. Area students who participated in last year’s summer program — Brian Fisher of Royersford and Richelle Kozlusky of Red Hill – are among those who received similar scholarships from Bucknell during the past year.
Montgomery County Community College has participated in the Bucknell program since 2007. Since then, 30 students attended the summer residency, and 21 transferred to Bucknell.
