Get Your Fill Downtown For Two Local Causes
POTTSTOWN PA – The borough “will be hopping” Aug. 13 (2011, Saturday) from 6-9 p.m. downtown, Cathy Paretti predicts, as two of its organizations – the non-profit Gallery School of Pottstown, and the Pottstown Regional Public Library – conduct a joint fund-raiser to benefit their programs and ongoing operations.
- This event has been added to The Post calendar.
The event’s theme is “local,” says Paretti, who helped found the Gallery School. The location, the catering, and the entertainment for the beef-and-beer feast all will be provided by other Pottstown entities as well, she said.
Popular downtown restaurant Grumpy’s will be catering. The fund-raiser will be held at the Ballroom on High, 310 High St. (“a great downtown venue next to the Farmer’s Market”, Paretti notes). And Pottstown’s own radio station, WPAZ-AM, will create the soundtrack for the event.
Tickets cost $20, and include hot roast beef sandwiches, pasta and veggie salads, beer and soft drinks, and homemade desserts. Vegetarian wrap sandwiches also will be available. A 50-50 drawing and silent auction will be held. Guests can buy tickets online at the gallery’s website, here, or in person at the school, 254 High St., or the library, 500 High St.
The Gallery School is a non-profit community art school and gallery that offers day, evening and weekend classes to all ages. The library, also non-profit, provides free access to traditional and new public library services in the greater Pottstown area, including books, audio books, news papers, magazines, movies, and reference.
