Park South Of Pottstown Plans Its Autumn Celebration

POTTSTOWN PA – The annual, free Autumn Celebration of Warwick County Park, a family-friendly event that features hay  and pony rides, face painting, crafts, a bonfire, and health and wellness activities is scheduled for Sept. 24 (2011; Saturday) from 4-8 p.m. in the park, 382 County Park Rd., Knauertown PA, located 3-1/2 miles southwest of the intersection of Routes 100 and 23 in Pottstown PA.

Other celebration events include a reptile show from the Forgotten Friends Reptile Sanctuary, a musical performance by Penny and The Pinecone People, an archery demonstration, the opportunity to ride an incumbent bicycle, rock-wall climbing, and a 5-kilometer race.

The race, called the “Families Fall into Fitness 5K and Relay,” begins at 5:30 p.m.on a cross-country course through Warwick County Park woodlands. It can be run individually or as a two-person relay team.  The cost of the 5K race or relay is $20 for advance registrations, or $25 on race day. Commemorative T-shirts are available for the first 150 registrants. Runners can register for the 5K or relay here. Race day registration and packet pickup opens at 4 p.m.

The race also includes a one-mile fun run for children age 12 and younger, and a 200-meter dash for children age 6 and younger. The children’s runs start at 5:15 p.m. and are free. Children’s runs registration forms can be found here.

Although admission is without charge, parking costs $5 per car. Pre-registered runners receive free parking.

The Autumn Celebration is sponsored by the Chester County Board of Commissioners, Chester County Parks and Recreation, and Friends of Warwick.  The Chester County Running Store sponsors the race events with Kimberton Whole Foods, Herr Foods, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Wawa.
