‘Open Doors’ Event Returns Sept. 10 To Pottstown
POTTSTOWN PA – The second consecutive “Open Doors” event in Pottstown, a day-long series of activities during which borough groups and organizations show off all they have to offer to area residents, returns to two venues – downtown Pottstown, and Pottstown High School – Sept. 10 (2011; Saturday) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Pottstown High School
Most activities are free. Last year’s event attracted more than 5,000 visitors.
Open Doors is designed to create a high-profile, community engaging event that welcomes students to the new year in the Pottstown School District. It also is intended to engage parents, caregivers, and community partners in the district’s educational mission, and create opportunities for community and district staff members to enhance trust and commitment.
Assisting the district as partners are the Pottstown Arts and Cultural Alliance, borough government, area churches, local service clubs, the Pottstown Downtown Improvement District Authority, Pottstown Regional Public Library, Pottsgrove Manor, The Hill School, parent organizations, and others.
An opening ceremony with Pottstown Middle School Jazz Band is planned for Smith Family Plaza in downtown Pottstown at 11 a.m. It will be followed by visitor tours of Pottstown Regional Public Library, TriCounty Performing Arts Center, The Gallery on High, Pottsgrove Manor, Pottstown Karate Club, the Carousel at Pottstown, Genesis Housing, and the Hill School Art Gallery.
Then, beginning at 2 p.m. at Pottstown High School, 750 N. Washington St., Pottstown PA, the schedule includes games and activities, a moon bounce, more than 30 organizational information tables, a display of police, fire, and military equipment, free entertainment, free food, a display of classic cars, tours, demonstrations, and give-aways followed by the Pottstown vs. Pennwood home varsity football game at 7 p.m. Admission to the game will be charged.
