MCCC Releases Phones’ Info App to Students, Public

POTTSTOWN PA – Students at Montgomery County Community College’s (MCCC) Pottstown campus now have two different and free software applications, or apps, they can use on mobile phones to both retrieve college information and keep up with their studies, MCCC Director of Communications Alana Mauger said Tuesday (Sept. 6, 2011).

The college this week released MOX, a mobile access app by Datatel Inc. to deliver campus information directly to students and community residents. After downloading MOX to applicable phones, users can find general information about the college, look up phone numbers to campus offices and departments, get news and learn about campus events, and check class schedules.

The software is available from online stores that supply apps for the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Blackberry and Google Android operating systems. MCCC is the only community college in Pennsylvania currently offering MOX to students and the community, Mauger said.

The college earlier introduced its first free app, Blackboard Mobile Learn, that allows quick and easy access to student assignments, announcements, grades, podcasts and discussion boards.
