Grace Lutheran’s Harvest Home Drive Seeks Donors

POTTSTOWN PA – Donations of non-perishable food items for distribution to needy families are being accepted now through the end of October at Grace Lutheran Church, 660 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown PA, the church announced Sunday (Sept. 25, 2011) in its online forum.

The food drive is called “Harvest Home.” “Traditionally, bringing in the harvest meant donating a portion of one’s finest crops to the church for the needy ones in the community,” its forum post explained. Because most people “no longer farm, we found another way to help our neighbors,” it added.

Most canned or packaged items are accepted. The church asks donors to avoid any glass containers or peanut butter items. Donations can be placed in baskets located in the front or side narthex of the church.
