SVRDC Marks 40th Anniversary With New ‘Nutcracker’
POTTSTOWN PA – A “brand new to the community” version of the classic Christmas ballet “The Nutcracker” will be presented by the Schuylkill Valley Regional Dance Company, as part of its 40th anniversary season, during December (2011) performances at the Hill School Center for the Arts, the Roots of Revitalization blog in Pottstown reported Sunday (Oct. 16).
- This event has been added to The Post calendar.
“The great thing about ‘The Nutcracker’ is you don’t have to be a huge dance enthusiast to enjoy it,” the company’s artistic director, Michelle Jones Wurtz, told bloggers in an interview about the production. “People view it as part of their family Holiday tradition,” she said.
This year’s production will showcase talents of more than 80 dancers, all of whom live or work within the Tri-County (western Montgomery, northern Chester, and eastern Berks counties) area, including guest artist Elrey Belmonti, the blog noted.
Performances are scheduled for Dec. 3 and 4 (2011; Saturday and Sunday) at 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. The Center for the Arts is located at 860 Beech St., Pottstown PA. Tickets cost between $15 and $20, and group rates are available. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 484-941-0683.
