Pottstown Homelessness Topic Of Next Week’s Event

POTTSTOWN PA – “Rethink Homelessness,” a free, public event that the TriCounty Community Network‘s Homeless Services Program hopes will raise community awareness about local residents who have no permanent residence or shelter, is scheduled for next Wednesday (Nov. 30, 2011) from noon to 1 p.m. at Smith Family Plaza, 100 High St., Pottstown PA.

“As temperatures drop and the holiday season begins, many individuals in our area are homeless and are without food,” explains network executive director Jennifer Doyle. “The goal of the event is to draw awareness to this devastating problem affecting many in our community, and offer ways our community can work together to help our homeless neighbors in need.”

The Homeless Services Program Committee is already connecting homeless individuals with agencies that can provide assistance, Doyle says. Members of the program committee will lead Wednesday’s event and introduce as its speakers formerly homeless individuals to talk about difficulties they endured.

The non-profit network, with headquarters in Pottstown, consists of 25 local organizations that partner with other non-profits, businesses, and community members to improve health, social and environmental conditions in western Montgomery, northern Chester and eastern Berks counties. The Post Publications is among the network’s business members.

  1. Give thanks

for the roof over your head
for the job that provides you sustenance and material things
for family and friends helping you bear the ruts in life’s road
for our Nation that allows us to live in freedom and choice
for those that sacrifice and serve in our Armed Forces away from home, in harms way, throughout our world.

Thanksgiving, give thanks to the Lord for all that you have, and try and share a little with others who don’t.
