Steel-Filled Lot Shows Pottstown Wal-Mart Progress

SUPER CENTER EXPANSION WELL UNDER WAY – A portion of the Pottstown Center parking lot at Route 100 and Shoemaker Road is filled with structural steel trusses and cross-members Monday (Jan. 2, 2012), awaiting installation in the expanded Wal-Mart SuperCenter now under construction in the borough. The Wal-Mart store, which has been a consumer shopping venue for many years, is growing its square footage on the build’s north and west sides to increase retailing space. Construction began late last year and will continue for several more months; the store will remain open in the interim, officials say. Work crews can now be seen almost every weekday, preparing the addition’s foundation.
