Technologists Certified From Pottstown, Perkiomenville

POTTSTOWN PA – Two Pottstown residents and a third from Perkiomenville are among graduates of the Montgomery County Community College 2011 surgical technology who passed the National Certified Surgical Technologist Exam (CST) last month (December 2011), the college announced. The CST certification gives graduates with an advantage in the job market.

Wining certification were Jeff Gruninger and Michelle Jackson, both of Pottstown, and Patti Meyers of Perkiomenville. As surgical technology graduates, they are able to seek employment in physician office procedure rooms, freestanding ambulatory surgery centers, delivery rooms, sterile processing areas, community hospital operating rooms, and acute and critical care facilities.

Many surgical technologists are directly employed by surgeons and may choose to specialize in certain types of surgery. Others become sales representatives for companies and manufacturers of surgical equipment and supplies. MCCC began offering the surgical technology curriculum in 2004.
