Carrots Go Here, Celery There. No Brussel Sprouts!

DESCRIBING POTTSTOWN’S NEW COMMUNITY GARDEN – About a dozen people attended Tuesday night’s (Feb. 21, 2012) meeting at the Mosaic Community Land Trust offices on South Hanover Street in Pottstown to learn more about, and pick up applications for plots in, the borough’s first community garden. Trust Executive Director Sue Repko, left, said the garden will occupy vacant, cleared and cleaned land near downtown, at 423 Chestnut St. About 40 raised-bed plots of varying sizes are available for local gardeners’ seasonal rental beginning in March. The trust received a Pottstown Health and Wellness Foundation grant to help pay for the project’s construction and supplies, and other local companies and individuals offered donations as well. Tuesday’s meeting was the second of three to help those interested though the application process; a third is scheduled for Saturday (Feb. 25) from 2-3 p.m. at Victory Christian Life Center, 28-30 N. Washington St., Pottstown.
