Bids Being Sought For Barth Addition, Renovations

POTTSTOWN PA – Bids are due June 5 (2012; Tuesday) from contractors interested in the work to renovate and install an elevator addition to the Pottstown School District’s Barth Elementary School on West Walnut Street, the Board of School Directors announced in a legal advertisement published last Monday (May 14). Notice is hereby given that sealed bids for construction of Elevator Addition and Renovation to Elizabeth B. Barth Elementary School, 467 West Walnut Street, Pottstown, PA 19464 will be received at the Administrative Offices of the Pottstown School District, Attn: Linda S. Adams, 230 Beech Street, Pottstown, PA 19464 until 2:00 P.M., prevailing time, on June 05, 2012.

Bids shall be submitted in sealed envelopes bearing the name of the Bidder and shall be clearly marked “Barth Elementary School”. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud immediately after the scheduled closing time for receipt of Bids. Bids received after the above-referenced date and time shall be returned to the Bidder unopened.

Separate, sealed Bids will be received for the following Prime Contracts: 2471-1 General Construction 2471-2 Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning Construction 2471-3 Plumbing Construction 2471-4 Electrical Construction

All questions pertaining to the Contract Documents, technical sections, legal documents, and bid submission shall be directed in writing to: R. Jeffrey Straub, Project Manager, phone number (717) 458-0272, FAX: (717) 458-0047; email: Each bid shall be accompanied by bid security in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the Base Bid amount and all alternate bid amounts in the form of a Bid Bond as described in the Supplementary Instructions to Bidders. A Performance Bond and a Payment Bond in the forms provided in the Project Manual, each in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the Contract, and each with satisfactory corporate surety, must be furnished by the successful Bidders prior to execution of the Contracts. Bids may not be modified, withdrawn or canceled by the Bidder for sixty (60) calendar days following the actual date of opening thereof, except as provided by the Commonwealth Procurement Code. However, if award of Contract is delayed by the required approval of another government agency, the sale of bonds or the award of a grant or grants, Bids may not be withdrawn by the Bidder for a period not to exceed 120 days from the date of bid opening in accordance with Pennsylvania law. Pottstown School District reserves the right in its discretion to reject any or all Bids and to waive irregularities in any Bid.

Further, Pottstown School District reserves the right to award any combination of Alternates or no Alternates, which, in its sole discretion, serves the best interests of the School District.

A Pre-Bid Conference will be held on May 24, 2012 at 4 p.m., prevailing time, in the Library at Barth Elementary School, 467 West Walnut Street, Pottstown, PA 19464. This project is subject to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Labor and Industry’s Prevailing Wage Determination. Corporations seeking to bid which are organized under the laws of a State other than Pennsylvania must secure the appropriate certificate, authorizing them to conduct business within the Commonwealth.
