Area Rite Aid Stores Offer Summer Skin Care Information
POTTSTOWN PA – Free information on maintaining healthy skin while enduring the summer sun on vacations or while working outdoors was made available Wednesday (June 6, 2012) from Rite Aid pharmacies in their new partnership with The Skin Cancer Foundation. Skin care guides are being offered for free to the public in stores and online, and some stores will also provide full-body skin cancer screenings.
Rite Aid operates stores locally in Pottstown, North Coventry, Gilbertsville, Douglassville, Royersford, Spring City, Limerick and Phoenixville PA. They are among about 4,700 company stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia.
During the campaign, which runs through July 31, Rite Aid pharmacists are encouraging customers to talk about taking good care of their skin. The prescriptions of some patients may heighten their sensitivity to sun; diabetes patients and others may be at risk for chronically dry skin.
Interpreting sunscreen labels is especially important this summer because new rules from the Food and Drug Administration have set standards for sunscreen labeling. Rite Aid is offering customers help interpreting sunscreen labels with information in the free Skin Care guides explaining labeling terms such as “broad-spectrum,” water-resistant” and “protects against skin cancer.”
