Not Pretty: Three Views Of Storm Damage In Pottstown
HIGH WINDS PLAYED HAVOC WITH POTTSTOWN TREES – High winds that were part of Hurricane Sandy’s fury raced down the streets of Pottstown borough Monday night (Oct. 29, 2012), upending trees and sending them into nearby vehicles, and bringing down light poles. Wind speeds measured at Pottstown High School, where the American Red Cross set up an emergency shelter, reached 58 mph. Similar turbulence sent tree limbs falling earthward on Beech Street (above), causing considerable damage to one car, as seen in a Twitter photograph distributed by Brandie Kessler. Twitter user Andrew Kefer found more traffic disruption (below) in front of his home, were branches impaled a passing truck. “Frankenstorm has arrived in Pottstown,” he proclaimed. And on Hanover Street near Beech (bottom), Kessler found the downed light pole already cordoned off by police and awaiting repair … whenever crews might get the chance.
