Boyertown Main Street Group Nationally Accredited

BOYERTOWN PA – “Building A Better Boyertown,” the not-for-profit organization dedicated solely to the revitalization of downtown Boyertown, is one of 26 communities groups across Pennsylvania recognized as “nationally accredited programs” by the National Main Street Center, the Pennsylvania Downtown Center announced last week (May 6, 2013).

“Accreditation is an acknowledgment … that an organization is following and implementing a program likely to result in a successful revitalization effort,” center executive director Bill Fontana said.

Building A Better Boyertown, located at 3 E. Philadelphia Ave. in the borough, provides downtown business and property owners with outreach, business retention assistance, business recruitment for vacant properties, visual merchandising assistance, façade grant assistance, promotional activities and events, and other services.

Accreditation is based on 10 national standards of performance that include assessment of operating budget, involvement of local boards and committees, reporting of key statistics, training for staff and volunteers. The center coordinates Pennsylvania’s Main Street programs, which receive financial support from the state.
