Pottstown YWCA Event Explores Human Trafficking
POTTSTOWN PA – Human trafficking – the buying and selling of people, most often against their will, for purposes of forced labor or sexual exploitation – will be the topic of a film screening and panel discussion Saturday (Jan. 25, 2014) from 10 a.m. to noon at the YWCA Tri-County Area, 315 King St. The event is free and open to the public.
The session includes a screening of the 2011 documentary film “Not My Life,” narrated by award-winning actress Glenn Close and created at the request of the executive director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. It depicts trafficking in the United States and 12 other countries.
Following the film, a panel of representatives from local law enforcement agencies and area anti-trafficking organizations will talk about the rise of trafficking across the Greater Philadelphia region, and ways it might be stopped.
