Help MontCo Plan Tonight For Its Next 25 Years

POTTSTOWN PA – Greater Pottstown area residents have an opportunity to plan for what might be ahead during the next 25 years in their corner of western Montgomery County, by attending what the county is describing as a “comprehensive planning meeting” for the year 2040 beginning tonight (Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014) at 7 p.m. in the South Hall community room of Montgomery County Community College, 101 College Dr.

20140909-SharedVision-MontgomeryCountyThe meeting is free and open to the public. Its “input will help guide the plan in creating a shared future,” organizers said.

The meeting will review the county’s draft version of “Montco2040: A Shared Vision.” The document, created by a 28-member steering committee with “significant public input,” the county said, focuses on connected communities, sustainable places, and a vibrant economy. It includes a future land use plan and proposed transportation projects.

This plan provides an overall framework for local municipal plans, as well as guidance on issues that go beyond local boundaries, such as highways, public transportation, flooding, trails, growth trends, redevelopment trends, shopping needs, impact of large developments, overall housing needs, natural systems, and economic growth.

Comments on the plan also can be offered online.
