Site Offers Pottstown Residents Insurance Resources

20120703-HealthInsurancePremium-GoogleImagesUNIVERSITY PARK PA – Pottstown Borough residents who lack health insurance and hope to join a plan when the federal Health Insurance Marketplace opens its enrollment period Nov. 15 may benefit from a series of informational webinars being conducted by Penn State Cooperative Extension and the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health.

The agencies have jointly launched a new website called “Health Insurance and You,” here, that they say is intended to be a one-stop resource for information on the marketplace, the benefits of health insurance, and a county-by-county listing of other resources.

The website will broadcast three hour-long webinars to focus on the specifics of the Health Insurance Marketplace, enrollment, and local resources for consumers interested in health insurance. The webinars are scheduled for Fridays at noon: Oct. 31 (2014), Nov. 14, and Dec. 5. Advance registration is required, and can be entered here.

Created under the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the marketplace is where individuals, families, and small businesses can learn about health coverage options, compare health insurance plans based on costs, benefits, or other features, choose a plan, and enroll in coverage. The enrollment period ends Feb. 15 (2015). Coverages can begin as early as Jan. 1.
