Zwikl To Retire; Greenway Searches For Director
POTTSTOWN PA – The Pottstown-based Schuylkill River Greenway Association has begun its search for a new executive director of the Schuylkill River National and State Heritage Area, its board of directors announced Thursday night by e-mail, in advance of the planned retirement in June (2015) of current Executive Director Kurt Zwikl.
The Heritage Area promotes the river, which runs from Schuylkill Haven PA down to Philadelphia, using conservation, education, recreation, cultural and historic preservation and tourism. Zwikl has been its leader since 2003, and leaves the organization “with a dedicated staff, a firm public (and) private funding base, strong partnerships and a great advocacy platform,” the e-mail said. It thanked Zwikl for “his vision, passion and strategic leadership.”
The board said it had hired Leadership Recruiters, an executive search firm specializing in non-profit searches, to assist it with the transition. The company, led by Priscilla Rosenwald, hopes to identify candidates “with the best experience and fit with the Heritage Area culture” to succeed Zwikl, the e-mail added. It also will work with the new director to provide a smooth leadership transition for his or her first several months.
