Pottstown High ‘Save The Lights’ Fund Surpasses $50K
POTTSTOWN PA – More than 80 Pottstown area individuals, businesses and schools have donated money to a “Save the Lights” campaign to restore stadium lighting at Pottstown High School’s Grigg Memorial Field. Donations jumped by about $16,000 during first part of the school year but have stagnated since, The (Reading PA) Eagle newspaper reported Wednesday (Nov. 5, 2014).
A total of $50,864 has been raised so far to install new lights. That includes a $10,000 donation from philanthropist Gerry Lenfest, who once owned Suburban Cable TV in Pottstown before it was bought by Comcast. An anonymous donor has pledged $150,000 for the lights project, provided that organizers can raise a $150,000 match, the newspaper said.
