Pottstown Students Create Gift For Santa, Borough
PUTTING THEIR SKILLS TO USE FOR SANTA – Students in the construction technology program at Pottstown High School (above and below) were as busy as Christmas elves Monday (Nov. 24, 2014), as they put finishing touches on “Santa’s House,” the building that will shelter Mr. Claus and his visitors from the elements during the holiday season the officially begins Friday (Nov. 28) in downtown Pottstown. The structure replaces an older, and much-used, Santa House owned by the Pottstown Downtown Improvement District Authority, school spokesman John J. Armato said. Materials for the new construction were purchased with funds raised on casual dress days, making the project a kind of Christmas gift in itself. PDIDA reports Santa is due to arrive downtown Dec. 6 (2014; Saturday). He’ll start with breakfast from 8-11 a.m. at Grumpy’s Restaurant; call for reservations at 610-323-1232. Then, at 5 p.m., he’ll come back downtown on a special ride along High Street to Smith Family Plaza, where he’ll light up the community holiday tree, be available for photos, and take the keys to his house to entertain those who have lists for him to consider.
