Senior Center Renovations To Start In 2015
POTTSTOWN PA – Renovations are set to begin next year on the new home of the Greater Pottstown Area Senior Center, director Brian Parkes reported Tuesday (Dec. 16, 2014) in its monthly newsletter, thanks to what he called “an incredibly generous outpouring of support from the community.”
The center’s activities currently are split between two locations: its “new” property, a former fitness center at 288 Moser Rd., and the Berean Bible Church at 2675 E. High St., Sanatoga.
Fund-raising and donations have brought more than $1 million “just for the renovation” of the Moser Road facility, he said. “On top of that, we continue to receive support from members, donors, and local foundations for our day-to-day expenses as we serve 60-100 seniors each day,” he added.
Although its use of the church property is only temporary, Parkes noted, the center this year “still served more then 1,200 individuals, 12,000 meals, and provided 46,000 units of service. That comes out to nearly 100 seniors a day who are not spending their days alone.”
