Began As A Stroll; Ended With Ride To Jail

SANATOGA PA – A Pottstown man’s early-hours stroll on the shoulder of East High Street, rather than its adjacent sidewalk only steps away, caught the attention of Lower Pottsgrove police … who later caught him with several bags of marijuana, township Ofc. Kevin Black alleged.

Out For A Stroll, But He Rode To JailHarry Raser, a resident of the 200 block of Manatawny Street, has been scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 29 (2015) in the Sanatoga courtroom of Magisterial District Justice Edward Kropp Sr., after he was arrested Friday (Jan. 9) at 2:57 a.m. by Black near Heritage Drive. Raser was charged with possession of marijuana.

Black, in a press release distributed Monday (Jan. 12), said he was on patrol when he spotted Raser walking along the roadside in the heart of Sanatoga village, which is lined with sidewalks. Black wondered why, and stopped to question him. During the discussion, the officer said, “Raser was found to be in possession of six small bags of marijuana that were deemed for personal use.”

Black said Raser was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Eagleville PA without incident. He was processed and arraigned, and his hearing date set.
