Brewer: Raise An Ale And Toast The Trail

POTTSTOWN PA – “The SRT Spree,” a five-day celebratory launch of the new SRT Ale being crafted by Pottstown’s Sly Fox Brewing Company, has been scheduled for April 17-22 (2015) by the brewer and the borough-based Schuylkill River Heritage Area. It’s a promotional campaign intended to benefit the Schuylkill River Trail, for which the canned beer is named.

SRT Ale was created “specifically for craft beer fans who love the outdoors of southeastern PA,” a Heritage Area press release crowed Wednesday (Jan. 28). The product is due to hit local distributors on Earth Day (April 22; Wednesday). A portion of proceeds from its sale will be donated by Sly Fox to “improve and maintain” the trail, it added.

Sly Fox describes SRT Ale as “a golden, delicious, hop-forward American Pale Ale. At 4.7 percent alcohol by volume, it is designed to be the perfect post-activity beer.”

During the spree, containers of SRT Ale will journey down the Schuylkill River Trail from Pottsville to Philadelphia by bike, kayak, horse and on foot, the press release said. Sly Fox will host several keg tappings along the way.

The Heritage Area is encouraging volunteers to participate in one of five trail-side clean-ups that help get the Schuylkill River Trail clean and tidy for Earth Day. A transport and clean-up schedule is online here.
