Jazz Ambassadors, Pottstown Band Perform April 14
SANATOGA PA – Tuesday (March 3, 2015) will be the first day for distribution of free tickets to attend the April 14 concert visit to Sunnybrook Ballroom, 50 Sunnybrook Rd., by the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors, in a Berks Jazz Fest performance sponsored by Boscov’s Department Stores and the Reading Eagle newspaper.
Tickets will be available at the Sunnybrook box office … call 484-624-5187 for times and distribution limitations, if any; and also at the courtesy desks of the Boscov’s stores in Coventry Mall and Exeter during regular business hours.
In addition to a ticket each patron admitted to the concert, scheduled for April 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the ballroom, must donate one non-perishable food item per person. All food donations will be given to Pottstown and Greater Berks area food banks.
The Jazz Ambassadors bill themselves as “America’s Big Band,” and serve as its official touring big band. The 19-member ensemble was formed in 1969 and plays the nation’s signature jazz both at home and abroad.
Concerts by the Jazz Ambassadors are designed to entertain all audiences. Custom compositions and arrangements highlight the group’s “creative talent and gifted soloists,” it said. Their repertoire includes big band swing, bebop, Latin, contemporary jazz, standards, popular tunes, Dixieland, vocals, and patriotic selections.
The Pottstown High School Jazz Band will join the Army performers in the show.
Boscov’s and the newspaper also are sponsoring a similar concert April 13 in the Reading Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Reading PA.
