Tax Sale Includes Pottstown, Limerick Parcels
NORRISTOWN PA – Five properties located in Pottstown, and one in Limerick, are among more than 40 tentatively scheduled to be put up for bid April 30 (2015; Thursday) at 10 a.m. in a upset and judicial real estate tax sale conducted by Montgomery County Treasurer Jason Salus at the county courthouse, 2 E. Airy St.
“Properties offered at these sales are chronically delinquent and have outstanding tax balances dating back at least two years,” Salus said. “We look forward to putting these properties back on the tax rolls.”
A complete list of parcels available as of Monday (April 6) can be found online here. The list, which according to Salus is updated daily, also includes well-marked properties that earlier were intended for sale but have been pulled and are no longer available because their overdue taxes were paid.
The local parcel of highest value on Monday’s list was that of the Pottstown Plating Works Inc. plant at 212 S. Washington St., Pottstown. Its taxes in arrears are listed at $56,044.
While the sales represent what Salus claimed are “many attractive opportunities for investors,” he advised bidders to complete due diligence in advance. Judicial sale properties are sold “free and clear;” upset sale properties are sold encumbered and may include added costs like mortgages or liens.
All interested bidders must register with the county Tax Claim Bureau by close of business on the day prior to the sale. Forms can be found at its website, here. For more information, call 484-681-9231.
