State Group Honors 2 Local Restaurant Chains

HARRISBURG PA – Two companies that operate restaurant chains within western Montgomery County will be honored later this month (April 27-28, 2015) by the Harrisburg-based Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association for what it describes as “outstanding community involvement and innovative community programs.”

Recently announced as two of six winnersState Association Honors Local Restaurant Chains of the association’s 2015 Restaurant Neighbor Award were Auntie Anne’s Inc., the soft pretzel baker that has franchise locations in Pottstown, Limerick and Bechtelsville; and The Rose Group, which operates Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar and Grille franchises in Pottstown and Royersford.

The awards will be presented during an association function in Bucks County.

Auntie Anne’s was singled out for its “ongoing partnership with (the) Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation since September 2011, raising almost $2 million through in-store national fundraising campaigns, coin canister donations and local pretzel rolling contests.”

The Rose Group received commendation for “Flapjack Fundraisers” at its Applebee’s locations, which are organized and promoted by volunteers with local charity groups. They keep the post-expense proceeds of their events to benefit their specific causes.

Other award winners were Arooga’s Grille House and Sports Bar of Harrisburg, Irish Pub of Philadelphia, Punxsy Pizza of Punxsutawney, and The Supper Club at the Greensburg Train Station in Greensburg. All are now eligible to win a National Restaurant Association award for community service.
