Police Allege Driver Stopped, Then Sped Away

SANATOGA PA – Traffic-related misdemeanor charges have been filed against a 25-year-old Pottstown man who Lower Pottsgrove police allege committed several offenses during the early morning hours of Friday (July 3, 2015), and then fled to elude them.

As of early Wednesday morning (July 8), when the police department announced the charges in a press release, its suspect and borough resident Rashad J. Savage was still at large.

Ofc. Kevin Black reported he observed an individual, later “positively identified” as Savage, commit “several traffic offenses” while driving a gray Mitsubishi sedan. The offenses were not specified in the release, nor was the specific location where they were allegedly occurred.

Black used his patrol car’s overhead lights and siren to signal the vehicle to pull over and stop, he said. The driver “disregarded the officer’s signals and continued to the Buchert Road entrance of Walnut Ridge Estates.” Once inside the community, Black added, “the vehicle came to a complete stop” but suddenly sped away as the officer approached to speak with its driver.

The Mitsubishi was last seen “traveling through the development at a high rate of speed,” Black reported.”

A subsequent investigation resulted in identifying Savage, and the filing of the charges.
