Local Grads Win Credit Union Scholarships
THOUSAND-DOLLAR SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS – Pottstown High School 2016 graduate Conor Benfield, above, and Boyertown High School graduate Taylor Landis, below, were recently selected as two of five winners of Alfred A. Panfile Memorial Scholarships presented annually by Diamond Credit Union, which operates from headquarters on Medical Drive in Lower Pottsgrove. The scholarships of $1,000 each are named for a long-time member of the credit union’s volunteer board of directors. Winners were chosen as those who, like Panfile, “give back to their local community through volunteerism, teamwork, and spreading goodwill.” Benfield will begin his college education at Montgomery County Community College; Landis, shown with credit union Boyertown Branch Manager Erica Mutter, will attend the University of Pittsburgh. The three remaining winners are graduates of Exeter High School, Wilson High School, and Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences.
