Caution: South Roland Street Now One-Way

STREET HAS CHANGED, AND SIGNS TOO – South Roland Street in Pottstown, from East High Street to Center Avenue, has now become a south-bound one-way street, borough police advised Tuesday (Aug. 16, 2016) on their Facebook page. The change is necessary because the street is now included in the “Bike-Walk Pottstown” project, and a bicycle lane and share-the-road markings will soon be installed there, police said. The department gave area drivers an early heads-up that it will monitor the street and, initially, have its officers issue only warnings to violators. Motorists should learn the lesson quickly, though. After Labor Day (Sept. 5; Monday), the department will issue traffic citations to those caught going down South Roland in the wrong direction.
