King Street Closes Weekdays For Church Work
POTTSTOWN PA – Preparations to demolish the leaning, crumbling steeple of the Pottstown First Baptist Church, at the corner of King and Charlotte streets, are scheduled to begin Thursday (Sept. 1, 2016), and the borough police department reports that will cause it to close King Street while the work proceeds.
To avoid dangers to the public, the department announced King would be closed at Charlotte as a through street weekdays (Monday through Friday) between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. for a period of between four and six weeks. King will be open for through traffic weekdays between 4 p.m. and 7 a.m., and all day on weekends, it added.
The demolition itself starts Sept. 6 (Tuesday), according to the borough.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area during closure hours.
