Historic Trust Launches Morlatton Programs

DOUGLASSVILLE PA – The first in a new series of programs that will offer lectures, exhibits, demonstrations, interactive sessions, and graphic presentations about life at historic Morlatton Village, 31 Old Philadelphia Pike, launches Sept. 17 (2016; Saturday) at 11 a.m. with a look at its architecture.

In “Gable Roofs, Timber Framing, and Georgian Floor Plans: A Look at Architecture at Morlatton Village and Beyond,” a volunteer of The Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County will discuss different styles of construction and architecture within the village.
Highlights include the Georgian-style George Douglass House, and the restoration project of the Mouns Jones House. The presentation will include a walk through the village to explore the buildings and architectural landscape. The program will last about 90 minutes, and includes light refreshments. A $2 per person donation is suggested, with all proceeds benefiting the trust.

The trust is non-profit organization formed to acquire, preserve, and maintain historically and architecturally significant properties in Berks County PA to promote awareness and appreciation for the role these sites played in American history. It currently owns and maintains eight historically significant buildings in the county.
