Pottstown: False Alarm On Chlorine Leak
WEST POTTSGROVE PA – Reports of a chlorine leak at the Borough of Pottstown water treatment plant off Old Reading Pike turned out to be false, according to officials cited Tuesday (Dec. 6, 2016) by The Mercury.
Mercury Staff Writer Evan Brandt reported that Karen Owens, the plant’s assistant superintendent, “said contractors were conducting preventive maintenance on regulators for chlorine tanks there Monday (Dec. 5) when one of the chlorine detectors set off an alarm. That alarm automatically shuts down the water plant and procedure requires workers there to call 911, which they did, Owens said.”
