Pottstown 2017 Budget Carries Nominal Increase

POTTSTOWN PA – It took Borough Council four separate votes to finally approve a 2017 budget of $52,562,947, based on an unexpected proposal made by Mayor Sharon Thomas. It raises next year’s taxes “by less than half a percent — 0.29 percent to be exact — and increases the annual tax bill on the average home” by only $2.47, The Mercury reported Monday (Dec. 12, 2016).

The budget is accompanied by “a new millage rate of 10.340 mills,” according to Mercury staff writer Evan Brandt.
