New Year Event Helps Pottstown Operation Backpack

POTTSTOWN PA – Operation Backpack, the Pottstown-based non-profit organization that helps ensure homeless and hungry students are better fed despite their economic circumstances, will benefit from the New Year’s Eve party being staged Dec. 31 (2016; Saturday) in the Sunnybrook Ballroom and its accompanying Gatsby’s Restaurant, Bar and Lounge, 50 Sunnybrook Rd., according to the facilities’ chief executive.

Sunnybrook’s sales director recently met with Operation Backpack representatives and “learned more about their mission,” explained Sunnybrook LLC President Chuck Gulati. “We knew they were the perfect charity to support for this year’s gala. Childhood hunger is an unfortunate reality in today’s world, and if we can help our local community fight to overcome that, we will,” he added.

Sunnybrook is selling dinner package and cocktail package tickets for its New Year’s bash, which features live entertainment from Philadelphia’s “The Big House Band” in the ballroom, and DJ TooMuch in Gatsby’s Restaurant. Per person tickets are available for order online, here. A portion of sales proceeds will be donated to Operation Backpack. In return, package purchasers will receive a chance to play casino-like games at which they can win valuable prizes.

Its grand prize? A three-night stay in, and round-trip airfare to, Las Vegas. And New Year’s patrons will be among the first to experience Sunnybrook’s newest addition, The Melody Ballroom, where the gaming tables will be set up.

In addition to a night of music and dancing, the dinner package includes 6 p.m. admittance, reserved seating, hors d’oeuvres, a buffet dinner, dessert, an open bar to 1 a.m., the casino games voucher, and taxes and gratuities. The cocktail package covers entertainment with a 9 p.m. admittance, as well as hors d’oeuvres, open bar, casino voucher, and taxes and gratuities; seating is not guaranteed, however.
